Ashvayuja Amavasya is the beginning of Marnadu Kartikamasam, which goes to Diwali. From then until the end of Kartik's month, the lamps are lit every night. Different pujas are done on Karthika Mondays and Karthika Full Moon festivals. The Karthika Maha Purana has been recited during the month. Karthika Purana Shravanam has been organised in the temples. Today, Diparadhan is of particular importance. Both the Shiva and Vishnu temples are lit. In the temples of Vishnu, lamps are to be lit on the dome, in front of the flagpole, near the Tulsikota, in the presence of God in the pramidas, in the amaranths, and in the pramidas made of rice flour. These lamps are to be neatly painted with saffron and flowers.
